Located in the South-Eastern part of the Romanian Plain, along the Danube River and the Borcea branch of the Danube, Calarasi County occupies 2.1% of Romania's surface. The relief is predominantly plain: Baragan Plains, Motistea (South Baragan), Viasia, Burnea and the Danube Meadow. The hydrographic network of the county is mainly given by the Danube River which bounds the county to the South and South-East.
