Timis County is located in the Western part of the country, in the the historical region Banat, Romania. From the surface's point of view it is the largest county of Romania. Its name comes from the Timiº River . The geographical location of Timis county gives it a privileged location , being the most Western county of Romania. Is adjoins in the West with Csongrad County– Hungary and in the South- West with Voievodina province– Serbia, the connection between the two counties being assured by border crossings points of Cenad, namely those of Stamora Moravita and Jimbolia. The Romanian neighbour counties of Timis are: Arad in the North, Hunedoara in the East and Caras-Severin in the South-East.
